Summer Skill Up
Approach for skilling up in these crazy times
This summer I decided that I really want to start plugging a lot of the lingering holes in my knowledge and try and really focus on getting back into the learning mindset. I have a pretty wide breadth of knowlegde but not as much depth as I would like so I am trying to pretend that I am back in college and am pursuing a few courses and certifications between this Summer and Winter. My areas of focus are really around non-OCI cloud, CI/CD concepts and security, Kubernetes and AI.
Cloud Security
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional ✅
- AWS Security Specialty
For both of these I am using Adrian Cantrill’s awesome courses as I had previously purchased his all the things budle forever ago. Using his course I was able to successfully sit the AWS Solutions Architect Professional after about a month of studying and am now moving onto the secuirty specialty which I hope to have completed by the begining of September. Beyond this I may look into GCP and Azure just to understand some of their differences but over all feeling more confident in being able to speak to clouds outside of OCI.
CI/CD
- Boot.dev Devops course At the moment I am also working through the Boot.dev devops course. I haven’t quite gotten to the CI/CD portion still hammering through some of the python and other sections as refreshers but hope to get to these sections in the next month or so.
Kubernetes
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
- Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist
I purchased the training and certificate bundle for these two from CNCF. I will start through the entire bundle here once I am through the AWS course I am doing and am really looking forward to this as it seems extremely hands on and will go much deeper than I have ever into k8s. Will try and write up blogs as I work through the course on my thoughts and learnings
AI
- No clue Still looking for some solid resources so if you know of any please send them my way.
